[Editors note: When we biodynamically stir – that is, with alternating vortexes – we create chaos at each reversal. Unbeknown to most biodynamic practitioners, it is chaos where the energising magic happens, not so much the vortex. This excerpt from Dennis Klocek’s 2013 Sacred Agriculture – the alchemy of biodynamics, provides the rationale for stirring in this way, and highlights the importance of the practice.]
Rudolf Steiner’s use of silica is to take a silica crystal and render it down to a small particle size, probably somewhere in the nano level, so that the surface becomes larger than the mass. It is then put in water. Basically, it has a cryptocrystalline form. As a crystal, it has a highly flexible inner form in the creation of inner planes. The inner planes arise as energetic portals within water when it is moved. When water moves, the energetic surfaces within the water begin to be organized in a crystalline form; moving water is a fluid crystal. Then, into that fluid crystal, we place silica that has been brought down to the nano level and has achieved a huge surface area; the highly reactive surfaces of the silica particles interact with the inner surfaces of the water to transfer a high level of order into the liquid crystal. This is the process of stirring biodynamic preparation 501.
Then we break the vortex and stir in the other direction. When we break a vortex and create chaos, incredibly small nano-sized spheres called micro-bubbles are formed. People have been able to take photographs of micro-bubbles bursting. When one bursts, out of the bottom of it a vortex briefly forms. In the realm of the micro-bubble, if a nanoparticle of silica with its (relatively) huge surface gets involved in a micro-vortex, the result is a tremendous action between that substance and the water. Not only has a little vortex formed, but also a measurable sound is generated, and the local temperature around a micro-bubble spikes up in the hundreds of degrees*. This is a great deal of activity generated by a tiny bubble, and untold numbers of micro-bubbles are created when the flow is broken.
In the fluid that is flowing with these crystals, a huge interaction of highly reactive surfaces is created. In this new ritual, the nature of the silica as a being of light and sacrifice is transferred into the water – that is, a being of sacrifice in addition to the water itself, the latter being two gasses that come to Earth to sacrifice – and there is a marriage.
That solution is then sprayed in the finest way possible on the surface of leaves. It is designed to receive light; the nano surfaces of the silica work to draw in the light. I now have surfaces and surfaces and surfaces. We call this remarkable ritual “preparation 501”; it renders plants more capable of receiving the light – the light that comes from the stars (Sun included!) and incarnates among us as the great sacrificial being, silica. [We observe the result of applying 501 in boosting photosynthesis as the strengthening of the plant in its growth and resilience to stress of all kinds. Ed.]
*According to Dr Patrick Flanagan in his 1975 book Pyramid Power – the science of the cosmos, micro-vortexes act like natural batteries, producing high voltage potentials (not electrical current), which he was able to actually measure, and radiant energy , both of which he believes lead to energized “living water” states.
